Father’s Day Reflection by Dr. Donaldson
As I was driving to yoga this morning feeling great having accomplished one of the ProLon 5 Day Fasting Mimicking Diet, I was delighted to see fathers out running with their daughters, riding bikes with their sons, and going to yoga with their children. I decided to dedicate my 5 day fast to fathers.
What an uplifting sight to see fathers and their children taking care of themselves and each other by exercising. A healthy way to celebrate Father’s Day I had not previously noticed so acutely. It gave me a feel good feeling inside to see these children bonding with their fathers.
It was as if they were all out purposely “grounding” themselves, touching the earth over and over again with each step, each cycle, each breath. Each breath in receiving all good things, and each breath out sharing their resources with the other person. Just as the tides ebb and flow, their breathing and motions were in sync with each other.
I thought, a father is like the tallest tree growing with their branches extending into the heavens and their roots growing firmly and deeply into the ground. They are grounded, they care, they are survivors, they do what they have to do, they are miracle makers in their own way.
To All Fathers…Happy Father’s Day.
Have a wondrous, beautiful, enlightening day teaming full of joy, peace, and love. May you understand as you helped create your children, you helped create miracles, as life itself is a miracle. Thank you for contributing to their life and helping to bring more miracles to this earth.
May your children understand they are your miracle and cherish you for bringing them life. No matter if your children think you are the most amazing soul on earth or if they think you are the worst person alive, may they remember that you, their father, gave them a chance to play in this world however they choose. Society today, seems to be mostly concerned about “women’s rights” and think not much about the way men/fathers are faring in this world, or how dearly they take care of and cherish their children as fathers. Fathers are stereotyped, and rightfully so, as protectors, pillars of strength, always watching out for their child, and always pushing their children to be the best they can be. A great father is all that. They do the best they can with the knowledge they have and love in their hearts. I applaud the great fathers of this world. They have accomplished a most amazing job.
And I thank my own father for the love, wisdom, passion, and support he gave me to encourage me to always be the best person I could be. I love you Dad! Thank you, thank you, thank you for you.
