Fear of Covid Reigns over Fear of Estrogen

Fear: an unpleasant emotion cause by the belief….

………That someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.”

It is our job to find out whether the belief is true or not true and then take action.

A large part of my patients come to me because of fear. Fear they can’t feel any better than they are, fear they may get worse, or fear they are not doing the correct things to keep themselves healthy.

The rest of my patients come in because of hope.  Hope they will feel better. Hope there will be an answer someone missed as to why they are feeling badly. Hope to what seems insurmountable is really not.

Helping people that are hopeful is easy.  Dissuading people of their fears is more difficult.  Once a fear is engrained in a person, whether it is real or perceived, it is much more difficult to displace.

I mostly write my blogs around people’s fears dissecting and analyzing if their fear is warranted or not, allowing everyone to make their own final decision.

Current Patient Fears:

Getting Covid, having Covid, being exposed to Covid, getting the vaccine, not getting the vaccine, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, taking Ivermectin, taking too much vitamin D or zinc.

Past and Current Patient Fears:

Estrogen causes cancer and stroke, testosterone causes cancer, heart disease and aggressive behavior, getting dementia or Alzheimers, no relief for chronic back or joint pain, no energy, unrelentless weight gain.

I’ve written about Covid and therapies for a year and ½ to address Covid fears.   I wrote one series of blogs on Testosterone and Prostate Cancer and another on Estrogen protecting you from stroke.

Today I am starting another series on “The fears of taking Estrogen replacement therapy.”

Combatting one Fear with Another: Covid-19 and Estrogen

When mentioning Estrogen helps prevent Covid and may even help treat Covid, fears of Estrogen causing stroke or cancer dissipate immediately.  The fear of covid reigns over the fear of estrogen causing cancer or stroke.  Interesting!

Estrogen is protective against Covid!

Estrogen in healthy levels is a fantastic hormone to have working for you, even for men as stated in an article in the April 22, 2020 issue of Journal of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. Prevention and therapy of COVID-19 via exogenous estrogen treatment for both male and female patients’.

The concept of using estrogen hormone replacement therapy for Covid never made headlines nor has been mentioned in the public arenas!  This article is an opinion article reviewing the scientific research supporting Exogenous Estrogen being given as a preventative and a therapy for Covid-19.

Estrogen sitting on the estrogen receptor site (ER) plays a crucial role in combatting respiratory viral infections. Medicine has known this for years.

The ER signals long term immunity, short term immune responses, and tissue repair processes.   It is well known in the medical and scientific literature when mice with weaker ER signaling are infected with a respiratory virus, they have an increase in morbidity and mortality in both males and females.

Estrogen treatment ‘silences’ the inflammatory reactions and decreases viral titers leading to improved survival rates. This is certainly also seen with Covid-19 infections as women were less susceptible to getting Covid, and had a lower morbidity rate than males.  These same statistics do not hold true when a woman is over 70 years old and not on hormone replacement.

In addition, testosterone can also sit on the ER and help increase our immunity.

The opinion and conclusion of the author is,

“We should overcome the widespread reluctance to estrogen therapies to help beat the pandemic with estrogen!!”

Have an awesome day!  And enjoy your healing hormones!   Dr D
