This is hopefully my last blog concerning Covid 19! Then it’s back to Growth Hormone (GH), about which I love to talk. To transition between Covid 19 and GH is to understand:

The Fading of Covid 19.
Covid 19 has certainly made it into the ‘history books’! It will be interesting to see how we all judge and perceive our thoughts and responses to Covid 19 in a year.
What treatments fight Covid 1, and what may kill all virus are yet to be determined? Mutations constantly occur with viruses making it inevitable we will be hit with another virus or a second wave of Covid 19 . To date there is no drug that kills viruses. Vaccines work approximately 40% of the time. Are we ready? What have we learned?
Possibly, peptides may emerge in the field of virology as peptides work intracellularly to upset viral replication. Peptides called AMP’s (antimicrobial peptides) do just this. Biological material such as exosomes and amniotic membrane extracts may emerge as common treatment for the cytokine storm. Researchers are now pushed into action more than ever before. It’s a good thing.
Facts vs Fiction
As people are preparing to move out in the world, the most asked question is, “What is the real truth about Covid 19?” Answer: We don’t know yet!
We certainly have more information entering the month of May than we did entering the month of March! How much of this information is factual will be determined.
RMC has tested 25 people across the country for Covid Antibodies who were exposed or swore they had it already. All have been negative. One of my patients tested positive for acute Covid out of state using Quest labs, and his wife tested negative. Both were asymptomatic. I will give you an update next week as they are being retested. We know statistically:

- 90% of the people hospitalized with Covid 19 had one or more medical conditions.
- Patients aged 50–64 years, obesity was most prevalent, followed by hypertension and diabetes
- Patients aged ≥65 years, hypertension was most prevalent, followed by cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Ace inhibitor medication for hypertension increases receptor sites for Covid invasion.
- Health ranks high in recovering from Covid
- Pregnancy seems to protect
One lesson learned
It is important we respect each other and make efforts to keep everyone well. Does this mean we live in quarantine all our lives? No, but it does mean we should be mindful of the other person, whether it be in a line in a grocery store or at a restaurant. I think we have all learned that lesson. It is a good one to learn.
